Is Prenatal Testing Safe or Beneficial?

On our Do-It-Yourself Prenatal Care page, we discussed the fact that a meta-analysis of over 50 studies about prenatal care concluded that prenatal care has not been conclusively shown to be effective at improving birth outcomes.

Prenatal care with a physician in the West almost always involves prenatal testing of some kind.  But are these tests safe and/or effective?  If prenatal care involves these tests and prenatal care is not effective, are the tests really all that necessary?

You be the judge.  Below are some links to research about each of these tests.  You decide for yourself, and if you deem these tests to be something you do not want, don't back down. Don't allow yourself to be bullied into taking the tests if you don't want them.
