Oregano is a natural source of omega 3 fatty acids. It is high in iron, manganese, and
other important minerals. It is also a natural source of Vitamin K. Oregano contains thymol and carvacrol, two substances that have extraordinary anti-bacterial properties. When using oregano for it's health properties, you will want to buy it fresh rather than using the dried culinary spice. That's ok when all you want to do is flavor pizza sauce, but to get the great antioxidant properties, you will want the fresh leaves.
